I’m pretty good at tuning out ads in general, but this one really confused me. There’s a whole variety of interactive game ads like this, but they’re usually of the “shoot the duck, win an ipod” variety. I’m more than a little confused at the idea that I would have to escape a gorilla to find out who likes me.
I’m aware I’m probably overthinking this, and people just enjoy outrunning giant gorillas as well as finding out who likes them, but the presentation here implies a connection between the two actions that leads to a particularly ludicrous narrative (i.e., young man is handed a note that promises to reveal the names of people in his class who like him, only to have it stolen from him by a ruthless helicopter pilot who leads him on a chase through a gorilla-infested city).

Maybe the key is to avoid the causal relationship and think about the inverse: if you don’t escape the gorilla, you certainly won’t be finding out who likes you.math
