About Me
I had fairly vague memories of having seen this as a kid. I'm fairly certain someone had a 10th birthday party where this was screening, so I have a few memories of some of the climactic "running through the corn" bits. It certainly had a reputation (in 5th grade) of being one of the scarier films of the time, but it certainly hasn't aged well. The film actually stars out fairly well, though it perhaps takes a little longer than it should actually getting the out-of-towners to start wandering around the town. There's a lot of arguing while driving that is not overly interesting to watch.
I guess the issue is that I pretty much only liked the second act. The first act is pointless, and the third act is absurd (once someone gets stabbed to death with a corn cob, it's a little hard to take). But the wandering around the creepy town stuff is pretty enjoyable. I guess perhaps that's the bit where it feels most like The Wicker Man, so maybe that's what I'm responding to.
